Getting the girls out there is only a small part of it.  The girls' safety is the primary concern!  Yes, the internet is an awesome marketing tool.  It is also a place where child predators lurk.  No need to parade cute kids in front of them.  &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Is the Girl Scouts' rule too strict?  As a Girl Scout leader and a Girl Scout mom who also loves the internet, I tend to think the GSUSA is restricting a wonderful modern way of getting the word out and in so doing limiting a valuable lesson we should be teaching our girls.  But as a Girl Scout leader and a Girl Scout mom who understands the internet I  also know why GSUSA has this rule in place.  Allowing the market online can endanger the girls and put the organization, as a whole, at risk.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I can also tell you the rules are clearly spelled out in the paperwork we are given each year and each parent is supposed to be "trained".  Wild's marketing, while ingenious, is definitely against what is clearly spelled out for us.&lt;/p&gt;
